CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Seattle U women's golf graduate student Samantha Bruce, senior Azumi Arai and sophomores Annika Cruz and Shayna Lu are among honored by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) as All-American Scholars. The criteria for selection to the 2022-23 WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Bruce finishes her career with her third overall WGCA All-American Scholar award, while Arai (fourth) and Lu (second) continue their academic excellence and Cruz earns her first career WGCA award.
Since Head Coach Marc Chandonnet took over the program in 2012-13, Seattle U has earned 38 WGCA All-American Scholars. The Redhawks have had at least two members named to the list since 2018 with seven taking home the award in both 2020 and 2021.
Women's golf closed out the 2022-23 academic year by recording a team GPA of 3.647 and finished the calender year with a 3.677 which was the second highest team GPA at Seattle U.
The WGCA All-American Scholars recognized a total of 1,401 women's collegiate golfers from 378 programs with the prestigious honor.
