SEATTLE – Seattle U softball completed a series sweep of Utah Valley on Saturday afternoon, taking a 10-5 victory in which all seven graduating seniors started their final game at Logan Field. Katie Walling continues to swing a hot bat, going three-for-three with one triple, two runs scored and three RBIs. Today's Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest marked the final game at Logan Field for seven graduating seniors in Jocelynn De La Cruz, Taylor DeDen, Izzy Dino, Madison Kahwaty, Mekenzie Madokoro, Brooke Milder and Olivia Viggiano.
With the victory, Seattle U improves to 30-18 and 11-10 in WAC play.
The Redhawks took control of the lead early in this one, platting two runs in the second inning. Katie Walling put SU ahead with a triple that she blasted to the left field wall, scoring Kalyn Hill who got aboard just before Walling with a single to center field. Walling went home on the crack of the bat to the very next batter in Mekenzie Madokoro to put SU ahead by two after two.

Seattle U blew this game open in the third inning, scoring six runs on six hits to make it eight nothing after three innings. Olivia Viggiano and Tai Wilson began the inning with back-to-back singles before Madison Kahwaty loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch. With the bases loaded and one out, Hill smacked a ball through the left side on the first pitch for a two-RBI single. Walling brought home another in the very next at bat with a single of her own through the left side, while Taylor DeDen made it seven with a hard hit ball right off the pitcher's glove. Brooke Milder brought home the final run of the inning on a ball she crushed over the right fielder's head for an RBI double.

Izzy Dino picks up the victory in her final start at Logan Field, throwing five innings with just two earned runs allowed. Dino worked really well under pressure today, keeping Utah Valley off the scoreboard in the first and second inning after they put runners in scoring position.
Seattle U scored two more insurances runs in the fourth inning, with Kahwaty cracking a double to left field and Walling grabbing her new career-high third hit of the game for her third RBI via a single up the middle.
After Naomi Chaidez worked an inning in relief of Dino, Stefanie Madrigal sent the Wolverines down in order to conclude the game and claim the series sweep.
SCORING SUMMARY
- Second Inning: Katie Walling tripled to left field, scoring the opening run. Mekenzie Madokoro hit a single to first base, driving in a run.
- Third Inning: Kalyn Hill singled with the bases loaded to score two. Walling singled through the left side to add another. Madokoro grounded out to the pitcher that allowed a run to score. Taylor DeDen singled up the middle to make it seven. Brooke Milder doubled to right field, allowing the eighth run to score.
- Fourth Inning: Utah Valley scored one run on two hits. Madison Kahwaty doubled to left field, scoring a run. Walling singled up the middle for her third RBI of the game.
- Fifth Inning: The Wolverines scored two runs on two hits.
- Sixth Inning: UVU scored two runs on two hits.
- Walling was the Redhawks top hitter at the plate this weekend, going six-for-nine with two triples, four runs scored and three RBIs.
- Wilson enjoyed a great weekend at the plate as well, hitting seven-for-11 with one double, one triple and four runs scored.
- Kahwaty tied her single-season hit by pitch record of 16 after recording one today.
