PHOENIX, Ariz. - Seattle U women's tennis faced off against Grand Canyon in a dual match at the GCU Tennis Center. The Lopes got off to a hot start in doubles and kept it going into singles, as the Lops shutout the Redhawks, 0-7.
In doubles, Lola Tavcar and Mireia Fehr paired up to face Anali Kocevar and Madeline Lamoreaux, but would drop the match, 1-6. Shuanghui Huang and Jade Quintana went up against Valentina Del Maro and Dania Deaifi, but would defeated 3-6.
Lastly, Elena Kraleva and Liliya Dimova faced off against Natasha Pueshe and Santa Strombacha, but the Lopes would secure the doubles point after Pueshe and Strombacha defeated the Redhawk duo 3-6.
In singles, Mireia Fehr faced off against Madeline Lamoreaux, but Fehr would drop the match 2-6, 0-6. Elena Kraleva would battle against Natasha Pueshe, but was defeated 1-6, 2-6.
Lola Tavcar put up a valiant effort against Anali Kocevar, but was defeated 2-6, 1-6. Liliya Dimova and Anali Kovevar were matched up against each other, but Dimova would drop the match in identical sets of 2-6.
Marija Elenova had a competitve match against Dania Deaifi, but Elenova would fall short, losing the match 3-6, 5-7. Jade Quintana and Valentina Del Maro were the last match of the day. The match was very close, even going to a third tie breaking set, but Quintana would be defeated 2-6, 6-3, 8-10.
The Redhawks will look to bounce back against New Mexico State on March 19 in Las Cruses, New Mexico.
