Redhawks Finish Season Strong at Day Three of NIC

MCALLEN, Ind. - Seattle U swim finished up their season in Day Three at the National Invite Championship. The Redhawks continued their streak of impressive performances into the last day to close the meet off on a good note.

MCALLEN, Ind. - Seattle U swim finished up their season in Day Three at the National Invite Championship. The Redhawks continued their streak of impressive performances into the last day to close the meet off on a good note.

"I'm so proud of the eight swimmers that came to this meet" said Head Coach Joe Dykstra "We managed a number of best times, and gained invaluable experience competing at the national level. They did this while taking exams and preparing for finals. I couldn't be more proud of their dedication."

On the women's side, Sarah Cook and Sammy Mosier represented well in the 100 IM. Cook finished the race in 58.91 seconds to place 62nd, while Mosier was able to finish in 59.42 to place 72nd.

In the 200 Back, Lydia Genson put up a great effort, clocking in a time of 2:04.87 to place 61st overall. In the 200 Breast, Sarah Cook competed hard to finish the race in 2:18.72.

Similarly to the women, the men also had strogn representation in the 100 IM. Cole Lanting led the way, finishing the race in 50.17 seconds. Jaxon Gonzales finished next, clocking in a time of 51.92, and Brendan Ryan was in close pursuit, putting up a time of 52.11.

In addition to a great 100 IM, Lanting also had a really strong performance in the 100 Free. The sophomore was able to finish the 100 Free in a time of 45.70. School record holder Nicholas Imig was also in the 100 Free, finishing in 46.38 seconds.

In the 200 Breast, Jaxon Gonzales and Brendan Ryan finished in close proximity of each other. Gonzales, who owns the school record in the event, clocked in a time of 2:02.85, while Ryan finished in 2:03.01, which was good enough to rank the true freshman ninth in school history in the event.

This was the last race of 2022-23 season, and the Redhawks will look to the offseason to prepare for another great season in 2023-24.
