Redhawks Complete Day One of NIC

ELKHART, Ind. - Seattle U men's and women's swim completed Day One of the National Invite Championships. The Redhawks started the meet with a strong showing, with multiple great performances in individual and relay events.

ELKHART, Ind. - Seattle U men's and women's swim completed Day One of the National Invite Championships. The Redhawks started the meet with a strong showing, with multiple great performances in individual and relay events. 

On the mens side, In the 200 Free Relay, the team of Nicholas Imig, Cole Lanting, Jaxon Gonzales, and Brendan Ryan worked together to clock in a time of 1:23.93. This mark just missed a spot on the top-10 list in school history by 1 second. The same team also competed in the 400 Medley Relay, and finished with a time of 3:25.24

Cole Lanting had a solid showing in the 200 IM, the school record holder was in close proximity of his personal best, as he would finish in a 1:50.82 in the prelims of the event. Brendan Ryan also had a great showing, clocking in a time of 1:53.81.

In the 50 Free, Nicholas Imig put up a time of 20.58 to place himself 28th overall in the meet. Rounding out the men's performances on the day was Jaxon Gonzales in the 50 Breast. The sophomore put up a time of 26.31 to place him 60th overall.

On the women's side, the 400 Medley Relay team of Lydia Genson, Sarah Cook, Sammy Mosier, and Maggie Robben would clock in a time of 3:52.17. The mark was good enough to place them tenth on the SU top-10 list, beating the old time by .33 seconds.

Maggie Robben had a great showing in the 200 IM. Robben finished her race in 2:05.19 seconds, which was only .08 seconds away from her personal best which ranks fourth overall in school history. Sarah Cook also competed in the 200 IM and put up a time of 2:06.60 seconds.

Lydia Genson put up a solid effort in the 50 Back, the sophomore was able to finish in 27.49 to place 90th overall. Sammy Mosier would also compete in the 50 Fly, clocking in a time of 26.04 seconds.

The Redhawks will look to continue their great performances in Day Two of the National Invite Championships, with events starting at 6:30 AM PST.
