Lanting, Imig Set School Records at Day Two of WAC Championships

MCALLEN, Texas. - Seattle U men's and women's swim wrapped up Day Two of the WAC Championships in McAllen, Texas. The Redhawks were able to add two more school records, and many more top-10 all time performances from Day One of the championships.

MCALLEN, Texas. - Seattle U men's and women's swim wrapped up Day Two of the WAC Championships in McAllen, Texas. The Redhawks were able to add two more school records, and many more top-10 all time performances from Day One of the championships.

In the prelims of the 50 Free, Nicholas Imig set a new school record in the event, clocking in a time of 19.88 seconds. This is a huge PR for Imig, beating his old best by .24 seconds, and Imig is the only athlete in SU history to break 20 seconds in the 50 Free. Imig would clock in a time of 20.01 in the finals, which placed him eighth overall and earned him All-WAC Second Team honors.
 
In the 200 IM, Cole Lanting had a breakthrough performance, finishing the race in 1:48.95 to break the school record in the event. The 200 IM was the oldest standing school record until Lanting broke it, having been previously set in 2008.

Andres Banuelos set a PR in the 500 Free. The sophomore clocked in a time of 4:34.16, which improved on his #9 standing in school history. Theodore Johansen was able to crack the top-10 list in the event, as he would finish in 4:34.84, which is good for tenth in SU history.

In addition to the individual school records Imig and Lanting set, the pair teamed up in the 200 Free Relay with Emmett Moore and Eric Thomure to finish the race in 1:21.26, which is good for the #2 all-time in school history. 

For the women, Sarah Cook had two stellar races in the prelims and finals of the 200 IM. The true freshman clocked in a personal best of 2:03.88 in the prelims, and then followed up with another personal best of 2:02.97 in the finals.

Cook improves on her standing as #2 in school history in the event, while also earning All-WAC Second Team honors by finishing fifth in the meet.

Sammy Mosier had a great performance in the 50 Free. Mosier finished the race in a new personal best of 23.62, which moved her from #4 in school history in the event to #3. 

The women's 200 Free Relay of Sammy Mosier, Isabella Guadiamos, Maggie Robben, and Aubrey Cheng clocked in a time of 1:35.00. The mark by the quartet was good for fifth in school history in the event.

The Redhawks will continue the action in Day Three of the WAC Championships, with prelims starting at 8:30 AM PST, and finals at 4:00 PM PST.
