NEWBURG, Ore. - Seattle U women's tennis traveled down to Newburg, Oregon to take on George Fox in a dual match. The Redhawks got off to a hot start in doubles and kept the momentum going, as they were able to pull off a dominant 6-1 win.
In doubles play, the duo of Elena Kraleva and Liliya Dimova got off to a fantastic start, as they shut out Ellie Mangan and Olivia Morris 6-0. Then, the pairing of Jade Quintana and Shuanghui Huang kept it going, as they emphatically beat Ari Rader and Brenna VanderYacht 6-1.
To finish doubles play, Mireia Fehr and Lola Tavcar were able to pull of the win against Kalli Wiker and Cassey Hitch, 6-3. The Redhawks would sweep doubles play and earn the doubles point.
The Redhawks kept the momentum going into singles. Elena Kraleva got the Redhawks started with a dominant win 6-0, 6-1 over Ellie Mangan. Mireia Fehr would also Cassey Hitch in similar fashion, winning the match 6-0, 6-1. In the next match, Lola Tavcar would face off against Olivia Morris in the next match, secruing another strong win for the Redhawks in a score of 6-0, 6-4.
Liliya Dimova kept her impressive play going into doubles, as she would shut out Kalli Wiker in identical sets of 6-0. Jade Quintana would follow up next, defeating Emily McDonald 6-2, 6-1. The last matchup of the day was Shuanghui Huang as she would go up against Elizabeth Cook in a competitve match, but Huang would drop the match 6-3, 1-6, 5-10.
The women's team will compete next on March 1 to take on Washington.
