Swim Concludes Record Setting Weekend at Day Three of Husky Invite

FEDERAL WAY, Wash - Seattle U men's and women's swim wrapped up their weekend trip in Day Three of the Husky Invite. In a weekend full of record setting performances, the Redhawks finished the meet strong with more record setting performances and top finishes.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash - Seattle U men's and women's swim wrapped up their weekend trip in Day Three of the Husky Invite. In a weekend full of record setting performances, the Redhawks finished the meet strong with more record setting performances and top finishes.

"I couldn't be more proud of the teams." said Head Coach Joe Dykstra "Their excitement and enthusiasm to be a cohesive team and elevate  the program was off the charts. On the results side, we broke a school records, has tons of new personal bests, and all time top ten performances. This was a great checkpoint on the progress and success we've had throughout the year. Everyone is excited to put it the necessary work over the next couple months to really have a lot of success at the end of the year!"

The Redhawks kicked off Day Three of the meet by continuing their dominance in the relay events. In the very first event of the day, the 400 Free Relay, both men's and women's team came away with multiple top finishes. For the women, the team of Sammy Mosier, Lydia Genson, Maggie Robben, and Sarah Cook took second in their race, clocking in a time of 3:33.12. On the men's side, the quartet of Nicholas Imig, Cole Lanting, Connor Barringer, and Michael Luna placed first with a time of 3:03.59.

Top individual performances came out from the last day of competition for the Redhawks as well. Sarah Cook continued the success she was having all weekend into the final day, as she would place first in the 200 Breast, with a time of 2:18.65. This beat her old season's best of 2:20.21 and strengthens her hold on the fifth fastest 200 Breast time in SU history.

For the men, Nicholas Imig also finished out the meet with record setting performances. In the 100 Free, Imig clocked in a blistering time of 44.36 to place first overall. The performance from Imig broke the school record of 44.52, held by now assistant coach Greg Raper. This is the second school record for Imig from the meet, as he tied the school record for the 50 Free in Day One of the meet.

The next time the swim team will compete will be on January 7 as they host Pacific Lutheran at home in the Redhawk Center.
