SEATTLE - Seattle U Volleyball dropped its first match of a four game home stand on Thursday night, falling three sets to one against Sam Houston (25-22, 10-25, 21-25, 19-25). The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) match was played at the Redhawk Center in Seattle.
The Redhawks started off the match strongly, out killing the Bearkats, 16-14, behind 11 total kills from Arianna Bilby and Shanice Horn. However, Sam Houston would take control of the match in set two and never let up. Catherine Krieger, Madison Dyer and Alyssa Fields would all post double-digit kills for the Bearkats, leading the team to victory.
Bilby recorded 16 kills in this match, leading the team and marking her second straight match with 15+ kills. Lauren McCabe would add eight of her own, while Ezgi Ozkan tallied 38 assists for her seventh match this season with over 30 assists.
On defense, Katlyn Sipes recorded double-digit digs for the eighth straight match, posting a team-high 13 digs.
Seattle U will have a little time off before Utah Valley comes to town, with the match set to begin at 2 p.m. on October 8.
