LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Seattle U volleyball heads to its second tournament of the 2022 season, traveling to Louisville, Ky., for the Bellarmine Invitational this weekend. The weekend's first matchup will be aired live on ESPN+, with the broadcast scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. pacific time, while the remaining two matches will be streamed on the BU Knights Sports Network. The Redhawks will take part in one more tournament following this weekend before opening the home and Western Athletic Conference (WAC) schedule on September 22 against Grand Canyon in the Redhawk Center.

ALL-TOURNAMENT OZKAN
Ezgi Ozkan recorded 109 assists and nine total blocks in the Redhawks first tournament, earning All-Tournament honors at the Fresno State Invitational. Ozkan has been instrumental in the Seattle U attack, logging 40+ in assists in back to back matches.
INSTANT IMPACT
Transfers Arianna Bilby and Shanice Horn were Seattle U's top hitters after the first weekend, posting 48 and 34 kills, respectively. Bilby's best performance over the weekend came in the victory against Louisiana Tech, posting 22 kills and finishing one dig short of a double-double. Horn provided a great spark off the bench, logging 13+ kills against San Francisco and Louisiana Tech.
BLOCK PARTY
The Redhawks came out blocking shots against San Francisco, recording 12 total blocks, with Marley Hardgrave, Ezgi Ozkan and Lauren McCabe all recording at least one solo block and six players getting at least one block assist. That energy continued against Louisiana Tech, with McCabe adding another two solo blocks and the team finishing with 12 more block assists.
DIGS MACHINE
Erin Goya demonstrated that she's an important member of the Seattle U defense, logging 15+ digs in her last two matches. Goya tied her career high of 15 digs against San Francisco before posting a 19 dig performance against Louisiana Tech, helping the Redhawks take their first victory of the year.
MILESTONES TO WATCH
Seniors Lauren McCabe and Ezgi Ozkan will look to climb up the all-time leaderboards this season. McCabe currently ranks fifth in solo blocks (28) and is 16 total blocks away from cracking that top-10 list. Ozkan ranks fourth all-time in assists (1,577) and has a chance to become the fourth Redhawk ever to register 2,000 career assists.

- This is Michelle Cole's third season at Seattle U and fifth overall as a head coach.
- The 2022-23 academic year marks the 24th season of SU volleyball since the program was reinstated in 1999. This will be their 15th season as a NCAA Division I member and 11th as part of the WAC.
- SU added two new assistant coaches in the offseason with Greg Shell and Mariko Downey joining the program. Shell spent 18 years as an assistant at Central Connecticut State, while Downey comes from UW where they made one sweet sixteen appearance.
