BELLEVUE - A combined 34 runs were scored in Seattle U baseball's 14-20 loss to New Mexico State on Sunday. The loss meant the Redhawks dropped the series to the Aggies and finished the regular season 3-3 against their WAC foes.
Down 20-10 heading to the bottom of the ninth inning, the Redhawks put on a rally. Aidan Welch doubled, scoring Julian Kodama and Michael Tsoukalas. That was followed by a 2-run homerun by Kyle Sherick to cut the deficit to six. New Mexico State would stop the rally short however, going on to pickup the win.
Despite the loss, several Redhawks had big days at the plate. Sherick and Trevor Antonson both homered in the game and went a combined 5-10 with seven runs batted in. Welch picked up where he left off yesterday, reaching base four times while knocking in two. 11 different Redhawks recorded a hit in the game, with every starter getting at least one hit.
The loss drops the Redhawks to 10-25 on the season and 8-13 in conference.
Next up is a home matchup with Washington on Tuesday, April 26. The last time the Redhawks and Huskies squared off, the game went 12 innings with Washington getting the 6-5 walkoff win on Montlake. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 4:00 PM at Bannerwood Park.
