BEAUMONT, Texas - Seattle U women's tennis begins postseason play Friday at the 2022 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament in Beaumont, Texas.
"We are all pumped up for the upcoming match against UTRGV," said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "I believe we have a great opportunity to compete against a quality opponent."
All eight teams will be in action Thursday, with #5 Seattle U taking on #4 UTRGV at 1 p.m. pacific time in the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center. The winner will advance to face off with #1 Grand Canyon or #8 Abilene Christian on Friday at 11 a.m.
Seattle U (WAC 2-2) earned dual match victories over Chicago State and Dixie State. On senior day, Jade Lancaster sealed the dual match victory over the Cougars, 4-3, after winning in a tiebreaker set over Katarina Dukic. The Redhawks followed up that performance defeating Dixie State, 5-2, claiming four singles points and sweeping the doubles point.
Freshman Liliya Dimova and Mireia Fehr starred for the Redhawks in singles play, each finishing 3-1 over the four dual matches. In doubles play, the pairing of Dimova and fellow freshman Elena Kraleva finished WAC play undefeated at 4-0.
