SEATTLE - Seattle U women's tennis opened its two match Western Athletic Conference (WAC) home cluster Friday in a highly windy match against Grand Canyon on the Seattle U Tennis Courts. The reigning WAC champions got off to a hot start and never let up, winning in a decisive 7-0 sweep.

The freshman duo of Liliya Dimova and Elena Kraleva (7-6) earned their second victory as a pairing over Autum Prudhomme and Fabienne Schmidt on court two but the Lopes would claim the other two matches to take the doubles point. Fellow freshman duo, Mireia Fehr and Jade Quintana (2-6), teamed up against Natasha Puehse and Santa Strombacha, while senior Aranza Alvarez Sanabria and junior Jade Lancaster (3-6) faced off against Jana Weiss and Valentia Del Marco.

In singles play, Fehr (0-6, 4-6) dropped her match against Puehse, while Dimova (4-6, 4-6) battled against Schmidt and Quintana (3-6, 0-6) took on Strombacha. Senior Hannah Grossman (4-6, 2-6) started off strong but fell to Weiss on court four, while Alvarez Sanabria (0-6, 2-6) matched up against Prudhomme and senior Jillian Rasmussen rounds out the singles match as she fell in identical sets of 1-6, 1-6.
