CORVALLIS, Ore. - Seattle U track and field opened the 2022 outdoor season with a strong showing at the Oregon State PNW Invitational in Corvallis, Ore., at the Whyte Track & Field Center. Junior Isaiah Payne showed off his speed, earning first overall in the 100m and 200m as well as setting a new school record in the 200m. Overall, the Redhawks set another seven top-ten marks and 25 personal records (PR).
I am really proud of our performances across all events," said Head Coach Kelly Sullivan. "One of our best opening meets, especially coming off finals week and dealing with the high winds today. The team we brought competed really hard and left Corvallis excited about the rest of season."
As a team, the men's earned first place out of 12 with 74 points, while the women's finished in second with 42.
Payne was stellar in Seattle U's opening outdoor meet, finishing with times of 10.65 and 21.47 in the 100m and 200m. The Kula, Hawaii, native was .4 seconds faster than the previous 200m school record which he also set last season.
Senior Tricht Jocelyn also had an excellent showing in the sprints, finishing in second place overall with times of 12.04 and 24.96 in both the 100m and 200m. The Fort Myers, Florida, native continues her fantastic 2022 track season as she has already set a school record five times.
in the 3000m, sophomore Gus Harquail, junior James Parker and redshirt junior Alex Franklin finished second, third and fourth, all setting new PRs in the process. Harquail's second place time of 8:36.48 also ranks fifth all-time. 4x100m relay team of Brant Yamamoto, Tom Topinka, Noah Payne and Isaiah Payne finished in first place overall with a time of 42.06 which was just .37 seconds off their fourth all-time mark.
2021 Outdoor WAC Champion in the javelin throw, Nicole Whittern, finished third overall with a mark of 43.62m (143' 1") improving her second all-time mark.

Rowan Cuadrado- new PR in the 2000m steeplechase
Amadeus Eckart- new PR in the long jump which ranks eighth all-time and new PR in the 400m.
Conor Flaharty- new PR in the 400m and wind aided PR in the 200m.
Alex Franklin- new PR in the 3000m.
Azalea Groleau- new PR in the 1500m.
Ashley Hagar- new PR in the triple jump.
Lilianne Hargreaves- new PR in the 1500m.
Gus Harquail- new PR in the 3000m which ranks fifth all-time.
Emily Harris- new PR in the 2000m steeplechase.
Taylor Marks- new PR in the 400m which ties for 10th all-time and new wind aided PR in the 200m.
Lance Mason- new PR in the 3000m.
Lucas Milne- new PR in the long jump and javelin throw which rank eighth and fifth all-time. Wind Aided PR in the 110m hurdles.
James Parker- new PR in the 3000m.
Isaiah Payne- new school record in the 200m and wind aided PR in the 100m.
Ansel Pendley-Griffin- new PR in the 400m.
Alyssa Recasner- wind aided PR in the 100m.
Tom Topinka- wind aided PR in the 100m.
Nicole Whittern- new PR in the javelin throw, improves second all-time mark.
The Redhawks next scheduled event takes them back to Oregon as they head to the Hayward Premiere, hosted by Oregon, in Eugene from Apr. 1-2.
