MISSOULA, Mont. – It was two games, two wins for the Seattle U Redhawks on Saturday. Seattle U beat DePaul 3-1 in the opening game of the doubleheader, then won 4-3 against host Montana in game two.

The Redhawks move to 14-10 on the season with today's wins and have now won three straight games.

Big innings made the difference for the Redhawks yet again. In game one, Carley Nance's three-run home run in the third was all the scoring Seattle U needed. In game two, the Redhawks scored four times in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run triple from Olivia Viggiano.

GAME ONE

Stefanie Madrigal was as consistent as ever, allowing only one run in seven innings of work. This was Madrigal's sixth complete game this year allowing one or fewer runs. Only four batters reached scoring position against Madrigal all game long.

The Redhawks put traffic on the bases consistently, with multiple baserunners in four of six innings and at least one baserunner in five. The only scoring for Seattle U came on Nance's three-run home run in the third, scoring Viggiano and Mekenzie Madokoro, who had two hits in the game.

GAME ONE SCORING
  • Third Inning: The Redhawks threatened in the second and third before breaking out with two outs. Nance sent her 20th career home run out to dead centerfield, a no-doubter making it 3-0.
  • Fourth Inning: DePaul got a solo home run, just its third hit of the day, to cut it to 3-1.

GAME TWO

Seattle U threatened all game long before breaking through in the fifth, quickly erasing a 3-0 deficit while sending nine batters to the plate in a four-run frame. Five of Seattle U's seven hits came in that fifth.

Nance started strong with a 1-2-3 first and would throw three innings before Grace Luderer took over. Luderer did not allow an earned run in her three innings of relief and turned a double play in the sixth to erase Montana's leadoff runner. Madrigal would work out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh for her first career save.

Viggiano had two hits in the game, one of six Redhawks with a hit. Brooke Milder, Jasmine Wehn, Tai Wilson, and Viggiano all scored runs for Seattle U.

GAME TWO SCORING
  • Second Inning: Montana loaded the bases without putting a ball out of the infield to start the inning. The Redhawks did well to limit the damage, allowing only one run.
  • Third Inning: Montana made it a 2-0 lead on a solo homer.
  • Fourth Inning: A leadoff hit by Montana would come around to score later in the inning to make it 3-0.
  • Fifth Inning: The Redhawks burst out in front with a big rally, scoring four runs in the fifth. Viggiano's tenth career triple tied the game, with the senior coming around to score one batter later for a 4-3 lead.
