ELKHART, Ind. – The Seattle U Redhawks continued their strong showing at the National Invitational Championships with six more swims on day two. The Redhawks would once again earn points on the day as the 800 Free Relay squad finished in the top 20.
The Redhawks have earned points with top-20 finishes on both days on the NIC so far, with the 800 Free Relay squad's points adding on to Will Corona's B Final appearance in the 200 IM yesterday.
Seattle U's team of Andres Banuelos, Cole Lanting, Justin Kalugin, and Corona swam a 6:52.47 in the 800 Free Relay, finishing 18th at the NIC. The Redhawks were also strong in the 200 Medley Relay as Corona, Jack Neton, Tyler Goodspeed, and Lanting swam a 1:33.02, finishing just outside the top 20 at 21st.
The Redhawks had four individual swims to go along with the strong relay showing. Sammy Mosier swam a 56.89 in the 100 Fly for the Redhawks as Seattle U's lone representative on the women's side.
Neton swam a 56.79 in the 100 Breast, just half a second off his season-high time. Corona also came close to a new season-high time in the 100 Back, swimming a 50.76. Lanting swam a 1:42.50 in his only individual appearance of the day.
The final day of the National Invitational Championships begins with prelims at 6:30 am PT tomorrow. The Redhawks will have representatives in the 100 IM, 100 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 1650 Free, and 400 Free Relay.
