HOUSTON, Texas – The Seattle U Redhawks put together a day of records at the WAC Championships on Thursday. The Redhawks set 12 new all-time top-ten times, including in both of the 200 Free Relays.
Cole Lanting was a part of three new top-ten times for the Redhawks. Lanting swam a 1:50.66 in the 200 IM, the seventh-fastest time in Seattle U history. He was also a part of the seventh-fastest 200 Free Relay time, along with Tyler Goodspeed, Nicholas Imig, and Milan Saric. That relay saw three new individual top-ten 50 Free times: Imig swan a 20.26, the third-fastest ever, Lanting a 20.23, the fourth fastest, and Saric a 20.81, the tenth fastest.
The women's 200 Free Relay also found its way into the all-time top ten. Allison Plamondon, Anna Edwards, Isabella Guadiamos, and Sammy Mosier swam a 1:36.19, the sixth-fastest time in Seattle U history. Mosier swam a 23.11 on her leg, good for the second-fastest 50 Free time in program history.
The Redhawks had some impressive times in the 500 Free as well. On the men's side, Michael Luna swam the sixth-fastest 500 Free in program history with a 4:33.09. Andres Banuelos had the ninth-fastest time with his 4:34.22. Cassie Koester was excellent on the women's side, swimming the third-fastest 500 Free in Seattle U with her 5:03.23.
In the 200 IM, Connor Barringer joined Lanting in the record books. Barringer had a 1:52.67, good for the tenth-fastest time in program history. Maggie Robben had the fifth-fastest time in program history, swimming a 2:05.86 in that event.
Tomorrow's slate for the WAC Championships will see the Redhawks compete in the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, and 400 Medley Relay.
There are two days left in the WAC Championships. Each of the next two days will have prelims begin at 8:30 am PT and finals begin at 4:00 pm PT.
