EUGENE, Ore. — Resolute pitching and timely hitting were key to Seattle U baseball's success on Saturday, as the Redhawks improved to 3-3 on the year, after logging a 4-2 victory over Oregon at PK Park. With the result, the Redhawks also snapped a seven-game skid to the Ducks.

In his second outing of the year, freshman Nestor German notched his first-career win he tossed 5 1/3 innings. The righty surrendered one run in the first and second on three hits. Following the second, German retired nine of the next 11 batter faced, including a quick three-up, three-down frame in the fifth.

He then made way for reliever Peter Chronowski, who dominated the Oregon lineup en route to his first-career save. Chronowski retired 11 of 14 batters faced as went 3 2/3-scoreless innings without a conceding a hit.

Connor O'Brien (2-5) drove in the opening run in the first with a double to left that allowed Gavin Rork (0-4) to score from second. Rork reached on a lead-off walk then stole second to put himself in scoring position. Two batters later a Justin Mazzone (2-3) single saw O'Brien come around to make it 2-0.

Tied 2-2, Matt Boissoneault (1-3) pushed Seattle U out front as he launched a deep shot to right leading off the fourth. The solo home run was Boissoneault's first of season and his first since March 5, 2019.

Grant Heiser (1-3) then pushed Mazzone across home in the sixth to give Seattle U a 4-2 lead. The lead-off Mazzone found himself in scoring position on back-to-back walks, before advancing to third on a fielder's choice.

"I'm very proud of how we competed today–especially at the plate," said Redhawks head coach Donny Harrel. "We challenged out guys to take their intent up a notch and it really showed today. Another positive was our pitching. German gave us another quality start while Chronowski was outstanding in coming out of the bullpen. As team, these guys showed a great passion to succeed today and we played well in all aspects."
