LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Seattle U women's golf trip to Las Cruces, N.M., came to an end after the final round of play in the Aggie Invitational concluded on Wednesday. The Redhawks finished sixth for a second consecutive tournament, while graduate student Keisha Lugito's strong play earned her third place in the event with a three-round total of 212 (69-69-74). The three-day event took place at the NMSU Golf Course on the 6,420 yards course with a par of 72.
"I am extremely proud of Keisha," said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. "She has come a long way and is good enough to win at this level. I really appreciate her commitment to this program, her hard work and how she treats people. She has a big heart and I am thankful to be a small part of her SU experience."
Lugito's third place finish came as a result of her strong play in round one and two where she posted two scores of 3-under, 69. Overall, she ranked fourth in birdies with eleven and faired well on the par three and par five, posting an average of 2.83 and 4.75.
Senior Samantha Bruce (76-73-74) and freshman Shayna Lu (72-79-72) were the next best Redhawks as they both tied for 24th with three-round totals of 223. Freshman Rivekka Jumagulova (72-74-78) was just one stroke behind them, while fellow freshman Maria Fedorowycz finished with a three-round total of 234 (77-77-80).
The Redhawks will not have much time to rest as their next event is the hosting of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at Tacoma Country & Golf Club in Tacoma, Wash., from October 11-12.
