TACOMA, Wash. – The Seattle U Redhawks started the season off at the Logger Relays, with the women's team finishing second and the men's team third. Overall, Seattle U finished second with 176 points, finishing behind Simon Fraser.
"The team performed well today overall," said Craig Nisgor. "We have only had 24 days of practice and for the work this group has put in both myself and my coaching staff were pleased with what we saw today. The team has really worked to come together in this short time and that has been great to see. We had solid performances across the board from our seniors to our freshmen and this really looks good for the rest of the season."
While the Redhawks didn't win any events, they did finish second in eight of eighteen events. The women in particular excelled: Sammy Mosier, Lydia Genson, Maggie Robben, and Allison Plamondon finished second in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:41.91. Mosier, Plamondon, Emilia Culberson, and Anna Edwards also took second in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:41.22.
Culberson, Tessa Oliver, and Danika Himes had a time of 3:09.82 in the 3x100 Medley Relay, good for second. Oliver and Himes also helped Seattle U take second in the 3x100 Breast Relay, with that duo and Kalie Bui putting up a time of 3:31.67.
The team of Genson, Nikki Cooper, and Marissa Chan had a time of 3:07.86 in the 3x100 Back Relay for another second-place finish. In the 3x100 Butterfly Relay, M osier, Oliver, and Isabella Guadiamos took second with a 3:02.11.
On the men's side, Cole Lanting, Will Coronia, and Connor Barringer had a time of 5:20.73 in the 3x200 Free Relay to finish just behind Simon Fraser. Seattle U's trio of Lanting, Emmett Moore, and Eric Thomure finished second in the 3x100 Butterfly Relay with a 2:36.88 time, just five-tenths of a second behind Simon Fraser.\
