WAC AT HOME
The Redhawks are back in Seattle for two games this weekend, hosting WAC opponents Utah Valley and Dixie State. Seattle U and Dixie State have played just twice ever, with each team winning one. The series against Utah Valley has gone on a bit longer: Utah Valley leads 13-6 all-time, with Seattle U's last win coming in 2017 on the road.
KILLIN' IT
Eve Kerschenbaum is closing in on another milestone, sitting just 15 kills away from 750 in her Seattle U career. Kerschenbaum would be the seventh Redhawk ever to reach the 750-kill mark and first since Matea Mamic did so in 2016. Kerschenbaum would join Cristin Richards (1458 kills), Kaytlyn Dill (1199), Mamic (1012), Martina Samadan (862), Sarah Jaeckel (845), and Libby Graff (775).
DIGGING DEEP
In her first seven collegiate matches, Katlyn Sipes had two double-digit dig games. In her last six, she has reached double digits every time, including three matches with 15+ digs. Sipes' streak is the longest by a Redhawk freshman since Tijana Milojevic had 23 consecutive matches with double-digit digs in 2017. Sipes' 3.62 digs per set is 11th in the WAC and seventh in the West Division.
SOFIA SANCHEZ iS GOOD
Entering last weekend, Sofia Sanchez had 19 kills and 4 digs on the season. In just two matches last weekend, Sanchez recorded 14 kills and 13 digs. Sanchez had her first double-digit kill match of the season at Grand Canyon, her 21st career double-digit kill match and first since February 8, 2021.
HELPERS
Ezgi Ozkan extended her streak of double-digit assist games to 12 last weekend. Only in the season opener, when Ozkan played only two sets, has she been held under ten assists. Stretching back to last season, Ozkan has 10+ assists in 24 of 25 matches and 20+ in ten matches. Ozkan has also managed to record 14 blocks in the last six matches after recording zero in the first seven.
BLOCK PARTY
Lauren McCabe had another multi-block performance at Grand Canyon, giving her multiple blocks in four of her last five matches. McCabe has at least one block in seven straight matches. That includes two seven-block performances, the second-most single-match blocks in McCabe's career. McCabe has jsut two block errors this year and none in the last six matches.
GOINS SO SNEAKY
Darian Goins had her kill streak end after four consecutive matches with at least one kill from the setter spot. Goins has not mad an error in 11 straight matches. She has 11 kills on 22 attacks in that time. Goins has 10+ assists in every one of those matches as well and 20+ assists in five matches in that time.
