SEATTLE
— Seattle U will face Pacific Lutheran for the third since 2010, as the two teams met on Friday at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawks and Lutes are tied 1-1 during the at time.  The Pacific Lutheran archives however show this being 18th meeting since 1980, with PLU leading the all-time series, 12-5. The contest was late add to the Seattle U schedule after its Western Athletic Conference series with Northern Colorado was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols.

LAST TIME OUT
After playing the first 17 games of the season on the road, the Redhawks opened their schedule at Bannerwood Park in winning fashion, taking 3-of-4 games againt perennial conference power NM State. The first three games of the series decided by one-run, before the Redhawks won the finale on Monday, 6-1. Kyle Sherick was 4-for-11 (.364) in the series with three RBI. Julian Kodama meanwhile had a team-best five hits.

With an emphasizes on developing the whole person Seattle U baseball has seen notable success in the classroom.
» In the 2020 Fall Quarter, the team posted a 3.267 GPA.
» With a team GPA of 3.304, the Redhawks were one four Div. I teams from the Pacific Northwest to garner the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award last season
» The Redhawks had 15 players earn All-WAC Academic honors in 2020.
» Mechanical engineering major, Kyle Sherick was named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2020 and received the coveted Bannan Scholarship from the College of Science and Engineering.

#PROREDHAWKS
» Former Redhawk pitchers Tarik Skubal (DET) and Eric Yardley (MIL) each made the 2021 Opening Day roster for their respective teams. Skubal was also announced as part of Detriot's starting rotation for the season opening series against Cleveland, and is scheduled to make his season debut on Sunday (1:10 pm ET.) Yardley is a 2013 graduate of Seattle U, while Skubal is part of the Class of 2018. Both on MLB rosters during the 2020 season.
» In the Summer of 2020, Seattle U had six former players active in professional baseball, including five who were affiliated with a Major League team.
» Since 2015, the Seattle U have been part of 12 MLB Draft picks.
» Former pitcher Brandon Jenkins became the latest Redhawk to sign with a MLB team, agreeing to terms with the Chicago White Sox on June, 20, 2020. He is currently in Arizona attending minor league training camp.
