LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Seattle U rowing's return to action featured less than desirable weather conditions on American Lake in Lakewood, Wash., Saturday, but little could put a damper on the first official competition in nearly a year-and-a-half as the Redhawks raced four boats in the PLU Invitational.
"We had rough conditions this morning, but the team handled them well and got the work done," said Head Coach Jenny Park. "It is so great to be back out and competing. We look forward to working hard over spring break and continuing to improve."
In the first of two Varsity 8+ races, Seattle U finished the 2000m course in 7:11.4, placing runner-up just behind Portland (7:02.6) and well ahead of Puget Sound (7:41.9). The second V8+ race also saw the Redhawks take a runner-up finish (7:14.9), this time just off pace of Seattle Pacific (6:55.6) and once again ahead of UPS (7:33.0).
The Redhawks and Pilots went head-to-head in the first 2V8+ race with Seattle U finishing in 7:44.0 to UP's 7:26.7. The day was capped by a head-too-head win in the second 2V8+ race as the Redhawks clocked a time of 7:57.6 to best Seattle Pacific (8:06.9).
