SEATTLE — Seattle U baseball (5-8) stumbled in Saturday's rubber match with Washington (8-6) by the score of 6-4. The Redhawks U held a lead for four innings, scoring all of their runs with two outs. However they finished the game with 11 runners left on base, including seven in scoring position.

The Redhawks tallied the opening run of the afternoon when Justin Mazzone drove a 1-0 pitch to right center allowing Julian Kodama race across home after reaching on a hit by pitch.

Trailing 2-1 in the third, Mazzone struck again for Seattle U, this time belting a two-run shot over the right field fence. It was Mazzone's first home run of the season and moved the senior into sole control of sixth on the Redhawk's rankings. Gavin Rork also scored on the play after reaching with a lead-off single.

Seattle U then added to its advantage in the fifth as Kodama scored on a single by Austin Lively, to make it 4-2.

Washington then trimmed the margin to one with a lead-off home run in the half off of the fifth, before continuing the rally with a three-run sixth en route to a 6-4 lead. The Huskies opening their scoring with two runs in the second.

SU starter Morgan White was solid in his outing allowing three runs while scattering five hits in five innings of walk. The right-hander also finished with a season-high seven strikeouts, including back-to-back punch outs in the second and fourth.

Kohl Petersen (0-1) was charged with the loss after surrendering three runs on two hits. Alex McBee, Riley Sinclair and Brady Liddle also made relief appearances.

At the plate, Shane Jamison recorded his first career hit in a Seattle U jersey with a double to right during the second inning. He doubled again in the sixth to finish 2-for-3 in his Redhawk debut. Mazzone hit 2-for-5, while Rork and Kodama were each 1-for-4. Lively was 1-for-2 with two walks

The Redhawks will resume action on the road next week with as they open their Western Athletic Conference schedule at Grand Canyon, Mar. 19-21.
