CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Seven Seattle University women's golf student-athletes were among those named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, the association announced Monday. The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

Earning recognition for the Redhawks were freshman Azumi Arai, sophomore Samantha Bruce, juniors Nicole Foster, Vendela From, Keisha Lugito and Kimberlee Tottori and senior Krystal Hu. The seven honorees tops all teams in the Western Athletic Conference.

"I am so proud of this team and the pride they take in being student-athletes," said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. "Collectively, they continue to make SU golf look good both on and off the golf course, and as a coach I am so proud of them. Being a WGCA All-American Scholar is a special honor and one nobody can ever take away from you because it means you truly are committed to both academics and athletics. I'm heart broken this team didn't have a chance to prove that they have the capability to win conference championships and possibly go beyond regional but we are hungry and will be back stronger next year and ready to compete."

The Redhawk squad has increased its number of WGCA All-American Scholars over the years, with seven this spring marking a record number. After earning either one or two honors from 2013 through 2017, four were named to the team in 2018 and six earned the distinction in 2019. Foster, From, Lugito and Tottori are three-time honorees while Hu earns the honor a second time.

Women's golf closed out the 2019-20 academic year by recording a team GPA of 3.830 during the spring quarter. The mark was the highest among all Redhawk teams. All members of the squad carry above a cumulative 3.60, while five top a 3.80.

The WGCA All-American Scholars recognized a total of 1,401 women's collegiate golfers with this prestigious honor.
