PHOENIX – In their first tournament of the spring season, Seattle U women's golf started hot right out of the gate at the Grand Canyon Invitational, led by junior Kimberlee Tottori's phenomenal second-place finish in the field of 85. As a team, the Redhawks finished in fourth place, with Grand Canyon taking home the team trophy with a compiled even-par; meanwhile, the Lopes' Alexis Linam finished just two strokes ahead of Tottori to clinch the individual title.

The tournament was shortened to two rounds of 18 holes due to inclement weather, but Tottori (69-71) made the most of it – her score of four-under 140 ties an eight-year-old school record for a 36-hole total. Additionally, Tottori's first round of three-under 69 tied her own personal best for lowest round and lowest round versus par. Her 10 birdies at the GCU Invitational were the most for any individual player in the competition.

Freshman Azumi Arai (75-74) shot six birdies of her own, tying for 18th place in the field at plus-five 149. Sophomore Samantha Bruce came in third for Seattle U, shooting 75-76 for a score of seven-over 151 and a 27th-place tie. Junior Vendela From (77-79) and senior Krystal Hu (82-85) rounded out the Redhawk competitors.

"This was a solid first event, and a good start to our championship season," said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. "There are some things we need to work on to continue improving, but I'm confident that we know what those things are and that we will be ready to play our best golf come year's end."

The Redhawks will have two weeks off before heading to Kane'ohe, O'ahu, Hawai'I, on Mar. 10-11 for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational.
