SEATTLE – Seattle U brings a two-game win streak into its fourth game of the season, a Wednesday, Nov. 14 meeting against cross-state rival Washington State. The game is the second of two games to be contested at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash., and is the second of four Pac-12 opponents on the Redhawks’ schedule. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be stream live on the WAC Digital Network. Fans can also tune in to KTTH 770 AM in Seattle or online at mynorthwest.com.

ABOUT THE SERIES
Washington State leads the all-time series 8-7 all-time in the series against Washington State following a 75-59 win in Pullman on Nov. 15, 2017. The game last season renewed an in-state rivalry that had been on hold since 1990. The Cougars have won the last three straight meetings. Seattle U’s last victory was a 55-54 final during the 1978-79 season.

LAST TIME OUT
Seattle U got a second straight double-double performance from redshirt junior Myles Carter as the Redhawks rolled on Homecoming - 82-59 over Bryant University - Thursday at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent. Carter finished with 25 points and 11 boards to go along with three blocks. Junior Morgan Means added a career-high 21 points and Terrell Brown chipped in 12 points off the bench.

SHOWARE SHOWCASE
Seattle U is 5-1 in games played at the accesso ShoWare Center. The arena opened in 2009 and from 2011 through 2015, the Redhawks hosted an annual ShoWare College Showcase game at the Kent, Wash., arena. Seattle U beat The Evergreen State, 77-54, on Nov. 28, 2011 in the inaugural game. The Redhawks fell 75-74 to CSU Bakersfield on Mar. 6, 2013 and then went on to win three straight at ShoWare – 70-67 versus Norfolk State (Dec. 19, 2013), 72-33 versus Pacific Lutheran (Dec. 1, 2014) and 58-48 versus Great Falls (Nov. 25, 2015). The Redhawks added a fifth win with their 82-59 victory over Bryant on Nov. 11.

ABOUT THE COUGARS
Washington State opened the 2018-19 season with an 89-72 win over Nicholls on Sunday, Nov. 11. Senior Robert Franks led the way with a 31-point, 11-rebound double-double. The Cougars return three starters, including three of their top four scorers from 2017-18 as head coach Ernie Kent enters his fifth season at WSU.  The squad went 12-19 overall and 4-14 in the Pac-12 one season ago.

REDHAWK RUNDOWN

  • Seattle U has opened the season with a 2-1 record for the first time since 2013-14 and just the second time during the modern-day DI era.
  • Washington State is the second of four Pac-12 opponents on the schedule this season. The Redhawks dropped a 96-74 decision at Stanford on Nov. 6 to open the season. They will also face Washington on Dec. 9 at Alaska Airlines Arena and travel to face California in Berkeley, Calif., on Dec. 29.
  • Seattle U’s last win over a Pac-12 opponent came on Mar. 23, 2015. The Redhawks defeated Colorado, 72-65, at the Redhawk Center in the second round of the CBI.
  • Redshirt junior Matej Kavas, a Ljubljana, Slovenia native, who has been named a preseason All-WAC First Team selection by both the league’s nine head coaches and the WAC media. The 6-8 guard was the Redhawks’ leading scorer in 2017-18, averaging 15.2 points per game. He also averaged 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists. Kavas led the WAC with 91 three-pointers and finished the year ranked eighth in the nation, hitting 46.4 percent from beyond the arc.
  • In a vote of the Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball head coaches, the Redhawks were picked to finish third during the 2018-19 season. In the simultaneously released WAC media poll, Seattle U was selected to finish fourth.
  • A trio of transfers who spent the 2017-18 season redshirting at Seattle U will immediately infuse the Redhawk line-up this winter. Myles Carter, a 6-9 forward from Seton Hall, and Delante Jones, a 6-5 guard from American, will both be redshirt juniors in 2018-19, while Dashawn McDowell, a 6-5 guard from SMU. Jones comes with the most noteable credentials of the three. The Chantilly, Va., native was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2015-16 after averaging 12.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He started all 30 games in 2016-17, averaging 11.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
  • The Redhawks will play a 19-game home schedule in 2018-19, and host 22 total contests as the schedule includes a three-team, six-game tournament. The Redhawk Center, located on the Seattle U campus, will serve as the primary venue for the 2018-19 season due to the renovation and shutdown of KeyArena, scheduled to take place in 2019 and 2020. Seattle U is excited to partner with the Oak View Group and return to the newly-renovated $700 million Seattle Center Arena in 2020-21.
  • Seattle U has compiled a 222-144 (.607) record in North Court, including a 15-game winning streak that began Nov. 5, 2008 with a perfect 10-0 mark during the 2008-09 season. In 2017-18, the Redhawks went 9-1 at the Redhawk Center.
