Seattle U men's swimming beat CSU Bakersfield and Blaise Wittenauer-Lee won three races for the women in a meet at the University of Idaho Saturday.

MOSCOW, Idaho (Nov. 5) - Seattle University swimming competed at the University of Idaho Saturday afternoon. The men beat CSU Bakersfield, while the women fell to Bakersfield and Idaho.

The men defeated Bakersfield, 143-125, taking down the ‘Runners for the first time in Coach Craig Nisgor’s five-year tenure at SU. The Redhawk women fell 186-96 to Idaho and 167-155 to CSU Bakersfield.

Morgan Montemayor won the 100 and 200 backstroke events, while Tanner Schelling won the 100 and 200 breaststroke races.

In the 200 butterfly, Alec Barnard won, while Jack Baldoni, and Shawn Fujii took second and third, respectively. Mitchell Crossen won the 100 freestyle and Baldoni claimed victory in the 100 butterfly. The 200 medley relay team of Morgan Montemayor, Schelling, Baldoni, and Greg Raper, Jr., won as well. Austin Barnard took first in the 1000 freestyle.

On the women’s side, Blaise Wittenauer-Lee won three races to lead SU. The senior took first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke contests, as well as the 200 IM. She swam a 1:02.90 to win the 100 and then blew away the field with a 2:16.68 in the 200 breaststroke.

Madi Lydig won the 1000 freestyle and the 200 backstroke, while Paige Treff touched first in the 50 freestyle race.

The Redhawks return home for a meet with Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, Nov. 19. The contest is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start at the Connolly Complex.
