SOUTH BEND, Ind. – (Oct. 11) Speckled solid rounds throughout the three-day Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic showed bright possibility for the Seattle University men’s golf team Oct. 9-11 at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.

Senior Ross Kukula shot a one-under 69 on Monday, junior Joe Harvie shot an even par 70 and four players shot a round of plus-one 71 on the 6,713-yard course.

“I’m excited about our progress and have high hopes that we’ll be able to continue making fewer and few mistakes as we move forward,” said SU Head Coach Marc Chandonnet.

Kukula was the Redhawks’ low individual scorer, finished in a tie for 24th with a three-round score of 214 (71-69-74). Harvie was Seattle U’s next best finisher, placing in a tie for 29th with a three-round score of 216 (75-70-71).

Freshman Zack Overstreet struggled with a 74 and 76 in his first two rounds, but finished the tournament strong with a 71 on Tuesday.

“We’ve have some really great scores in practice, so I know we are close to breaking out and having a great event,” Chandonnet said.

Fall action continues on Oct. 17-18 as the Redhawks travel to Simi Valley, Calif., to take part in the Bill Callum Invitational hosted by CSUN.
