Individually, the Redhawk men’s tennis team was one of two leading the way with seven honorees, while three SU women earned individual honors. Matt Alderson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.), Ian Clare (Sachse, Texas), Brian Nguyen (Edmonds, Wash.), Gus Orlando (Sacramento, Calif.), Michael Schoettler (Tacoma, Wash.), John Stormans (Olympia, Wash.), and Will Topp (Olympia, Wash.) represented the men while Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas), Kailyn Skjonsby (Grapeview, Wash.), and Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) earned accolades on the women’s side. SU had the fourth highest number of individual honorees among all Division I men’s tennis teams.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program whose cumulative GPA is 3.20 or higher (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letterwinners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the 2015-16 academic year.
The individual ITA Scholar-Athlete winner criteria is as follows: varsity letterwinner, GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
The 2016 fall schedule for Seattle U men’s and women’s tennis has been announced with the 2017 spring schedule upcoming in the next few weeks.
