Seattle U (24-14, 11-3 WAC) scored four in the first inning and held off Utah Valley (22-17, 8-6 WAC) for a 5-3 win in the second game of a three-game series which concludes Sunday, Apr. 24 at 10 a.m. PT.

Sean Sutton (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) brought home Sheldon Stober (Kent, Wash.) and Michael McCann (Vancouver, Wash.) on back-to-back doubles for the first two Redhawk runs before Lucas Denney (Goldendale, Wash.) scored Sutton on a two-run homer as SU took an early 4-0 lead.

Utah Valley cut into the Seattle U lead in the fifth as Zac Willis singled home two runs, both unearned, but Sutton would score on a groundout in the seventh to put the Redhawks up, 5-2. Willis scored one more run for the Wolverines on a sac fly in the eighth but Seattle U’s defense would ensure the win.

Nick Meservey (Scottsdale, Ariz.) picked up the win on the mound, pitching six innings with eight strikeouts, while Zach Wolf (Dana Hills, Calif.) earned his fifth save, facing the final four batters in one inning of action.

Sutton led SU at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI’s while Denney also tallied two RBI’s.
