After dropping the doubles point to South Dakota State (2-3), Seattle University women’s tennis (5-6) responded with six straight singles wins to earn a 6-1 win in their weekend finale. The win wrapped a hectic weekend for the Redhawks in which they played six matches in four days.

“Today was a gutsy effort from our team,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “It was their sixth match in four days and, after dropping the doubles point, we responded with a ton of heart and determination in capturing a win on all six singles courts. We really showed a lot of character and I couldn’t be prouder. We have worked hard on and off the court on our conditioning and that really shined through today. This was a great team win and shows the progress we are making. We’re looking forward to a couple much-deserved days off before getting back to work.”

The Jackrabbits captured the doubles point by winning two of three matches to take an early 1-0 lead. Seattle U would respond with six straight singles wins to not only tie the match but run away with the victory in stride. Michelle Lui (Bellevue, Wash.) picked up her fourth win of the weekend in six matches.

Seattle U heads back to eastern Washington to face Gonzaga on Saturday, Feb. 13 before two weeks off from competition.
