High School: James spent three years on the varsity tennis team at Lubbock High. She helped the team take second place in districts her last two years, and she won the district tournament her senior year and took second junior year. She made regionals four times, twice with the team, once as a doubles player, and once for singles play. She earned Second Team All-District her last two years, and earned the team's Most Improved award junior year, MVP award senior year, and was named the school's Student Athlete of the Year senior year as well. James was also involved in student council all four years, being voted class vice president junior and senior years. She was also a member of the National Honor Scoiety and YEL/Interact. Making the High Honor Roll all four years, James also received the Class Who's Who award junior and senior years.
Club Experience: James Played USTA Tennis from 2008 to 2012, reaching the Super Champ level at both 16-and-under and 18-and-under levels. She was ranked 69th in the state of Texas and reached the Top 40 of her graduating class in the state as well.
Personal: Full name Kristen Lynn James. Parents are Laura and Darryl, and she has two younger siblings named Daniel and Lauren. James is a biochemistry major and she is undecided on a career post-graduation, but will decide between engineering, science or medicine. James also enjoys skiing and drawing, and she was a seven-year member of the Lubbock Youth Symphony Orchestra.
