“It was a physical, grueling match today,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “We’re disappointed with the loss but proud of our efforts and intensity. Taking the doubles point for the third match in a row is nice and Kelli [Woodman] played a solid singles match. We came very close on a couple of other singles courts and battled hard but ultimately fell short. Idaho is a good team and we look forward to playing them at home next time in April.”
Seattle U earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead into singles play before Idaho’s Marianna Petrei evened the tally with a win at No. 1 singles.
Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) regained the lead for the Redhawks with a straight sets win in the No. 2 spot but the Vandals would follow with four straight victories to earn a 5-2 win.
The Redhawks continue the weekend vs. Lewis-Clark State (9 a.m.) and College of Idaho (1 p.m.) on Friday.
