After the Redhawks won at No. 1 doubles and the Bears tied it up in the No. 2 spot, Connor Leahy (Portland, Ore.) and John Stormans (Olympia, Wash.) ultimately won the doubles point for Seattle U with a 6-3 victory over Eric Scheurmans and Jacob Sheldon, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles.
In the first singles match to finish (No. 2), Austin Mayo tied the match, 1-1, before Riley Newman (Whidbey Island, Wash.) regained the lead, 2-1, with a win over Ben Gendron, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
Northern Colorado re-tied the match at two apiece before Ian Clare (Sachse, Texas) defeated Mitchel Knight, 6-2, 7-6(3) at No. 3 singles to regain a 3-2 lead for the Redhawks.
In the final two singles matches, Leahy would clinch the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jacob Sheldon at No. 5 singles to put SU up, 4-2, and Matt Alderson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) added a point of insurance with a tiebreaker win over Connor Finerty in the final spot.
The Redhawks face Air Force (Feb. 27) and Abilene Christian (Feb. 28) before returning to Seattle to host Idaho on Mar. 10 and Illinois State on Mar. 11, both at Amy Yee Tennis Center.
