“We came out very strong today in our opening home dual match,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “We had good energy and intensity and stayed focused throughout the match. It’s always nice to start the season with a win. We now have a couple of weeks to fine tune and get ready for the ITA Regionals at Stanford.”
Reigning Western Athletic Conference Female Tennis Player of the Month Michelle Lui (Bellevue, Wash.) continued her dominance in the No. 1 spot in both singles and doubles with partner Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.).
The Redhawks won each match in straight sets with Madison Maloney (Idaho Falls, Idaho) posting SU’s best finish, 6-0 in doubles with partner Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) and 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
The Redhawks will travel to ITA Regionals in just over two weeks (Oct. 23-27) before finishing their fall schedule at the Bulldog Invitational in Spokane (Nov. 6 -8).
