Seattle University was well-represented on the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) All-Academic list for the 2014-15 winter sports of men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track and field, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.

A total of 276 winter student-athletes were named to the list and, of full affiliate members, Seattle U ranked second with 42 honorees. Grand Canyon led the pack with 51 total honorees for the winter season.

Jack Crook (Manchester, England) represented Seattle U men’s basketball as an honoree while women’s basketball placed three including Wilma Afunugo (Plano, Texas), Makenna Clark (Lake Tapps, Wash.), and Kristin Stoffel (Mill Creek, Wash.).

Redhawk indoor track and field earned 16 honorees, 12 women and four men, including Sophie Curatilo (Honolulu, Hawaii), Madison Davis (Camano Island, Wash.), Candice de Sauvage (Foster City, Calif.), Katie Fleming (Paradise Valley, Ariz.), Mariah Gibbs (Banks, Ore.), Emily Hedberg (Phoenix, Ariz.), Rebecca Lassere (Boise, Idaho), Mandie Maddux (Gresham, Ore.), Moira O’Connor Lenth (Seattle, Wash.), Lila Rice (Redmond, Wash.), Mandy Rusch (Redmond, Wash.), and Elena Smith (Seattle, Wash.) for the women and Gus Arroyo (Portland, Ore.), Tyler Flannery (Auburn, Wash.), Louis Rodrigues (Alameda, Calif.), and Malaki Seanoa (Everett, Wash.) for the men.

SU men’s swimming and diving earned six spots on the list including Sam Donohue (Portland, Ore.), John Fulmer (Kent, Wash.), Kyle Moline (Mercer Island, Wash.), Tanner Schelling (Boise, Idaho), Bart Wanot (Federal Way, Wash.), and Chris Weinert (Gresham, Ore.) while women’s swimming and diving led all teams with 16 total honorees including Stephanie Bayless (Spokane, Wash.), Carlee Bock (Bellingham, Wash.), Emma Foster (Clancy, Mont.), Bethany Gehrke (Lynnwood, Wash.), Kristin Hoffman (Mercer Island, Wash.), Jane Liggett (Portland, Ore.), Allie McGavock (Glen Ellyn, Ill.), Kaitlyn Overstreet (Cottonwood Heights, Utah), Sydney Pinger (Tualatin, Ore.), Melissa Randolf (Everett, Wash.), Rachael Rodriguez (Round Rock, Texas), Katie Rottman (Phoenix, Ariz.), Kate Sabourin (Santa Rosa, Calif.), Arianna Sapp (Silverdale, Wash.), Caroline Van Maren (Bellevue, Wash.), and Blaise Wittenauer-Lee (Portland, Ore.).

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.
