UTEP clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, both by 8-0 tallies, rendering no need to finish the No. 2 match as the point had already been decided.
The Miners jumped out to a 3-0 lead with wins in the first two singles matches to finish in the No. 2 and No. 5 spots. Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) got the Redhawks on the board with a win at No. 4 singles as they trailed, 3-1, but UTEP would clinch the match as Lois Wagenvoort earned a win in the No. 3 spot.
Michelle Lui (Bellevue, Wash.) and Audrey Scott (Austin, Texas) finished the match with wins at No.1 and No. 6 to bring the Redhawks with one, 4-3, for the final score.
Seattle U women’s tennis will face Cal Poly in a non-conference match on Thursday, Mar. 26 in Portland, Ore.
