Seattle University women’s tennis won the doubles point early and played Eastern Washington to a close match but ultimately fell, 4-3, as the Eagles finished with two final singles wins to earn the comeback win.

The Redhawks mounted a comeback in doubles play to earn the win after falling in the first match to finish but winning the final two at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

SU took a 2-0 lead as Michelle Lui (Bellevue, Wash.) defeated Rachel Swindell, 6-7, 7-5, at No. 2 singles but the Eagles tied the tally, 2-2, with a pair of singles wins to follow. Seattle U earned a 3-2 advantage as Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) earned a win at No. 4 singles over Dani Young, 6-3, 6-4, but EWU would gain the lead and the final advantage, winning the last two singles matches to finish.

The Redhawks will travel to Las Cruces, N.M. next weekend to take on Chicago State (Mar. 20), UTPA (Mar. 21), and NMSU (Mar. 22) to open conference play, also facing UTEP in a non-conference match on Mar. 23 in El Paso.
