COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Seattle University women’s tennis dropped a close 4-3 match to Montana State before topping Northern Colorado by the same margin on their final day of weekend competition. As Abilene Christian women’s tennis was not able to make the trip to Colorado due to weather, the Redhawks’ Sunday match has been cancelled.

Seattle U will next host Portland on Friday, Mar. 6 at 11am at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.

Montana State 4, Seattle U 3

The doubles point would prove to be the difference maker as, after Montana State took a 1-0 lead with a doubles win, each team won three of six singles matches.

Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) earned a win in straight sets at No. 1 singles before Madison Maloney (Idaho Falls, Idaho) earned a three-set victory in the No. 3 spot. At No. 4 singles, Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) also earned a point for Seattle U with a straight sets victory.

The match would come down to the No. 6 singles match, which the Bobcats’ Molly Crum would ultimately win, 6-1, 6-0, to top Sari Kwee (Honolulu, Hawaii).
