Seattle University softball (7-16) took an early lead in game one but allowed late Miami (9-5) runs to fall, 4-2, before dropping game two, 8-0, to Cal State Northridge (18-5).

The Redhawks will close the weekend at the Husky Spring Classic on Sunday as they face Miami (Ohio) one final time at 9am PT.

Miami (Ohio) 4, Seattle U 2

The Redhawks struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in their first at bat as Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) and Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.) gave Seattle U the early lead on an RBI single by Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.) and an error by the Miami outfield. The Red Hawks prevented further scoring chances for SU, stranding three on base to end the inning.

Seattle U left two runners on base in the top of the third, one in scoring position, but Miami would cut their deficit in half, 2-1, in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by Eryn McCarver, scoring Tiyona Marshall who reached base on a triple.

MU took the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the fourth on a trio of hits and a Redhawk error, which would prove to be the final margin.

Morrow hit a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI to lead Seattle U.

In the circle, Lindsay Davis (Palo Cedro, Calif.) was handed the loss allowing three runs on five hits in three innings of action. Mandie Sugita (Rossmoor, Calif.) entered in relief allowing one run on one hit in three innings of work.

Amber Logemann picked up the win for Miami allowing two runs on four hits while walking three and striking out 10 in the complete game win.

CSUN 8, Seattle U 0 (6 innings)

The Matadors took a large lead early, 5-0, in the bottom of the second thanks in part to a two-RBI triple by Kaitlin Toerner and a two-RBI homer from Katie Hooper. CSUN would tack on three more over the fifth and sixth to earn an 8-0 win.

The Redhawks’ best chance to score came early in the contest as they left two runners on base in the top of the first. SU also left one runner in scoring position in the top of the sixth.

In the circle, Alyssa Reuble (Lynnwood, Wash.) suffered the loss allowing five runs on eight hits in four innings of work. Sugita entered in relief allowing the final three runs on three hits while striking out one.

Brianna Elder allowed just two hits while walking two and striking out eight in the six-inning shutout for the Matadors.
