CSU won doubles matches in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to clinch the point and take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
The Redhawks responded with three straight singles victories to take a 3-1 lead through three of six finished singles matches. Michelle Lui (Bellevue, Wash.) defeated Natalie Heffron, 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 1 spot before Madison Maloney (Idaho Falls, Idaho) topped Laia Hernandez Soler, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 3 spot. Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) would also earn a victory over Adriana Wojakowska, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.
Colorado State’s Mollie Cooper and Maddie Buxton tied the score, 3-3, with wins at No. 5 and No. 4 singles, respectively, as the final result would come down to the last match.
Madison Porter earned a 6-2, 7-5 win over Sari Kwee (Honolulu, Hawaii) at No. 6 singles to clinch the match for Colorado State.
