In doubles play, Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) and Michelle Lui (Bellevue, Wash.) would take the first set, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles before Portland State’s Megan Govi and Kelsey Frey evened the tally. Madison Maloney (Idaho Falls, Idaho) and Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) would clinch the doubles point for SU with a 7-6 (7-1) win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, the Pilots would answer back with four straight singles wins to clinch the match. The Redhawks’ Carey and Lui would win the final two after the result had been decided.
The team will have two weeks off from competition before taking a trip to Colorado for matches versus Colorado State (Feb. 26), Air Force (Feb. 27), Montana State and Northern Colorado (Feb. 28) to close the month of February and Abilene Christian (Mar. 1) to open the month of March.
