Seattle University men’s tennis competed well in doubles play but dropped the opening point and subsequently fell in straight sets to drop their opening spring match, 7-0, at No. 44 Oregon.

“The team competed very well against a highly rated University of Oregon men's tennis team today,” said assistant coach Mark Hooper.

Connor Leahy (Portland, Ore.) and John Stormans (Olympia, Wash.) nearly overcame Daan Maasland and Simon Stevens at No. 2 doubles, but ultimately fell, 7-5, and as the last to finish, the Ducks had already clinched the doubles point.

Oregon would take down the Redhawks in straight sets in each of the singles matches to sweep the overall match, 7-0.

The Redhawks finish out the weekend in Eugene with a neutral site match vs. Eastern Washington on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. before returning to Seattle for four straight starting with Portland and Wisconsin on Saturday, Jan. 24.
