Seattle University women’s soccer earned four honorees on the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women’s All-West Region teams as Natasha Howe (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Stephanie Verdoia (Salt Lake City, Utah) were named to the First Team and Kiana Kraft (Kent, Wash.) and Kelly Beck (Tacoma, Wash.) were named to the Third Team.

Howe scored the game-winner in the 108th minute in the Redhawks’ first all-time NCAA Division I tournament victory at No. 23 Washington State on Nov. 14. For the feat, she was named GoSeattleU.com Featured Student-Athlete for the week of Nov. 10-16. She also received Second Team All-Western Athletic Conference honors, tied for fourth in the league in game-winning goals and in the top 10 for both goals and points. Howe was also one of three Redhawks to record double digits in goals in 2014.

Verdoia, the two-time WAC Offensive Player of the Year, receives her third straight All-Region honor, named to the Third Team in 2012 and Second Team in 2013. Most recently, Verdoia was named Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year for Division I women’s soccer for her excellence both on the field and in the classroom. In 2014, Verdoia also broke Seattle U’s single season scoring record recording 22 goals and set new program records for career goals and points.

Kraft was a key component in the Redhawk backline that played No. 18 South Carolina to a scoreless draw in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. At the conference level, she was also named First Team All-WAC in 2014 and has earned a place on back-to-back WAC All-Tournament teams. For the week of Nov. 3-9, 2014, Kraft was named GoSeattleU.com Featured Student-Athlete of the Week for recording a career high five points vs. NM State in the WAC tournament semifinals.

Beck, starting all 22 matches this season in defense, anchored the Seattle U backline that outscored their opponents 12-0 en route to their second straight WAC tournament title in 2014. The team co-captain was named Second Team All-WAC as well as College Sports Madness First Team All-WAC for her leadership and excellence. Earlier in the season, Beck also earned her first career WAC Defensive Player of the Week (Aug. 25-31) title as the lone Redhawk to play 90 minutes in the 4-1 win over Northern Illinois, also tallying an assist.
