The tournament was comprised of both a crimson and gray singles and doubles bracket, with consolation brackets for each, as well as a set of additional matches.
Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) and Michelle Lui (Bellevue, Wash.) each won a match in the crimson singles bracket, defeating Lewis-Clark State College’s Hannah Uhlenkott and Rye Hewett respectively, but could not advance in further matches. Each competed in the crimson singles consolation bracket, and Woodman advanced as far as the semifinals.
In the gray singles bracket, in her first competition as a Redhawk, Madison Maloney (Idaho Falls, Idaho) defeated both LCSC’s Putri Dwinta as well as Gonzaga’s Sissi Koehler, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, before falling to Boise State’s Bobbi Oshiro in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-1.
In gray consolation play, Sari Kwee (Honolulu, Hawaii) defeated LCSC’s Lauren Lang, 7-5, 6-1, before falling to Boise State’s Naomi de Hart in the quarterfinals.
Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas) and Lui, in doubles play, advanced to the crimson consolation semifinals with a win over Eastern Washington’s Chrissy Uriarte/Katrina Domingo, 6-1. Jacqueline Jacques (Modesto, Calif.) and Audrey Scott (Austin, Texas) also advanced to the gray consolation semifinals on a bye.
In additional singles matches, Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) defeated LCSC’s Hewett, 6-2, 6-0 while Scott defeated Montana’s Catherine Orfanos, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles play, Maloney/Carey defeated Gonzaga’s Samantha Polayes/Alex Bourginon, 6-2.
