Undefeated Redhawks Face Washington in NCAA Tournament Rematch: Nationally ranked for the first time since returning to DI competition (No. 22) after going 2-0-0 on opening weekend in Charleston, S.C., Seattle U men’s soccer returns to their home city to face crosstown rival Washington on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first matchup between the two teams since the NCAA DI Tournament Second Round match in Nov. 2013. Scouting Washington: Washington finished 2013 with a 16-2-4 record and No. 5 national ranking, the most successful season in school history. They also won the Pac-12 title and advanced to the Elite Eight. This season, the Dawgs split a pair of midwest exhibition games to start the season, defeating Michigan State, 1-0, and falling to Indiana by the same score. In regular season play, UW opened the season with a 4-0 victory at Gonzaga on Aug. 29. Spencer Richey and Cristian Roldan are two of 32 NCAA DI players on the MAC Herman Trophy Watch List to begin the season. The Redhawks and Huskies faced two times last season, including in the NCAA Tournament Second Round. UW won both matches, but SU recorded a 12-game unbeaten streak between the two.

All in the Family: Alex Roldan’s brother, Cristian, is a sophomore midfielder for UW.

They received seven of nine first place votes cast, leading with a total 76 points. Kyle Bjornethun represented the Redhawks on the Preseason All-WAC Team.
