The Western Athletic Conference announced its 2014 All-WAC softball teams and major awards, as selected by the league’s head coaches and Seattle U earned five places on the first and second team.

Lindsay Davis (Palo Cedro, Calif.) highlighted the Redhawks’ honors, named WAC Freshman of the Year, while Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.), Lisa Maulden (Maple Valley, Wash.), and Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.) were named First Team All-WAC. Davis and Jenny Hurst (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) received Second Team Honors. Geronimo and Morrow have now earned back-to-back First Team All-Conference honors, also representing the Redhawks in 2013.

Davis, the right-handed pitcher, ranked third in the league in conference play in wins (4) and innings per game (5.15), fourth in opponent batting average (.263), innings pitched (46.1) and games started (8), and fifth in ERA (2.87) and appearances (9). In her first season, she led the Redhawk pitching staff with an 8-8 record, 3.26 ERA, 17 starts, eight complete games, and two shutouts. On Apr. 11, vs. Kansas City, Davis recorded her first career complete game shutout vs. a Division I opponent, and in two starts over the three-game series, went 2-0, recording 11 shutout innings and 8.2 without giving up a hit.

Geronimo led SU at the plate through the regular season for the second straight year, improving her average to .390 coming into this weekend’s WAC Tournament. She also led the team with 57 hits, posted 10 doubles, one home run, and was one of four Redhawks to record a triple in 2014. With a .497 on-base percentage, Geronimo ranks in the top 80 among all NCAA DI softball players in the category. She was also named one of espnW’s Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 24-Mar. 2 after scoring nine runs, batting .652 (15-for-23), and recording five doubles, with at least two hits per game as SU went 5-0 at the Santa Clara Marriott Invitational.

Maulden ranks second in batting average (.370) for Seattle U through the first 49 games, also adding 22 runs on 50 hits and a team-leading 12 doubles for a Redhawk squad who ranks 65th in DI doubles per game. Among WAC teams through the regular season, Maulden ranked fourth in doubles (12), fifth in batting average, and sixth in slugging percentage (.585) and on-base percentage (.423). A defensive force for the Redhawks as the starting first baseman, Maulden led SU with 311 putouts.

Morrow, the starting catcher, makes an impact both on the defensive side, leading SU starters in fielding percentage (.979) and at the plate, with a team-high 34 runs, nine home runs and 35 RBI. She also ranks second for Seattle U in hits (53) and doubles (10). This season, Morrow ranks fourth among all WAC players in runs (34) and total bases (90), fifth in home runs (9) and RBI (34), and sixth in doubles (11).

Hurst was named GoSeattleU.com Featured Student-Athlete of the Week earlier this season (Feb. 17-23) as the starting third baseman for all four Redhawk contests at the Amy S. Harrison Classic. That weekend, she recorded a run in the team’s 10-1 five-inning victory over LMU on Feb. 22 and an RBI in the 3-1 win vs. host UC Riverside on Feb. 23. Hurst finished in the top ten individually among the WAC in on-base percentage (.410) and slugging percentage (.509).

With five named to the All-WAC first and second teams, Seattle U earned the third most honorees, with NM State leading the way with eight and Grand Canyon following behind with six. For the full list of awards, click HERE.
