Surrendering the doubles point proved to be key as Seattle University women’s tennis (3-8) fell, 4-3, at Portland State.

Barbara Carey/Kelli Woodman fell, 6-1, in the first doubles match, but Kristen James/Corinne Wurden then evened the score with a win at No. 3 doubles. Marina Todd/Sabina-Elena Preda, however, earned the final doubles win at No. 2 doubles for the Vikings to score the doubles point.

Portland State would then earn the first three singles wins to go ahead, 4-0. Despite Seattle U earning wins in the final three singles matches, PSU had already sealed the victory.

Seattle U returns to action vs. Utah State and Gonzaga at Sand Point in Seattle on Feb. 21 and 23.
