Seattle University men’s tennis completed play at the Dar Walters Invitational hosted by Boise State, their final tournament of the fall season.

Zach Kosanke (Bellevue, Wash.) advanced as far as the quarterfinals in the blue singles draw, but fell to Weber State’s Jakub Gewart, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

In the blue consolation bracket, Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) fell to eventual consolation bracket winner, Washington State’s Oliver Good, 6-2, 6-4. In the same bracket, Kevin Lynch (Colorado Springs, Colo.) fell to Portland State’s Ian Nisenhoover by withdrawal and Brandon Schneider (Dubuque, Iowa) fell to Eastern Washington’s Eduardo Bringold, 6-2, 6-2.

Riley Newman (Whidbey Island, Wash.) also advanced as far as the quarterfinals in the orange singles draw, but fell to eventual bracket champion, Utah State’s Sebastian Schneider, 6-3, 6-0. In the round of 16, Connor Leahy (Portland, Ore.) was defeated by Montana’s Peter Mimnagh-Fleming, 6-3, 7-6.

Ian Clare (Sachse, Texas) won four straight matches to win the orange draw consolation bracket, defeating Idaho’s Filip Fichtel in the final game, 3-6, 6-2, 11-9. On the way, he also defeated Washington State’s Dylan Hansel, 6-1, 6-2, Montana’s Alex Braun, 7-5, 6-2, and Washington State’s Anthony Trabert, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

In the blue doubles draw, Kosanke/Clare advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Weber State’s Todd Fought/ Gewert in a close match, 8-7.

Newman/Leahy also advanced to the quarterfinals in the orange doubles draw, but fell to Montana’s Ethan Vaughan/Zach Drost, 8-0.

The team completes play for the fall season and will open the spring season vs. Lewis-Clark State on Friday, Jan. 24.
